DC People is a short feature that heralds individuals
who improve the DC community and encourage others to
make DC the outstanding place it is. DC PEOPLE don't
have to be famous. They just have to be special. And
they all share an emotional attachment to the District
and a commitment to its future.
Now you can nominate someone
to be on DC People. We will feature people, old and
young, who help make a difference in our city, by their
work, or by their example of what people can accomplish.

CapStat is a performance-based accountability
program that uniquely identifies opportunities
to make District government run more efficiently,
while providing a higher quality of service
to its residents. The program is modeled
after Baltimores CitiStat but is tailored
to the needs of the District of Columbia.
CapStat is not a technology application;
however, technology will support the discussions.
Accountability sessions are central to the
program. For one hour, all executives responsible
for implementing specific actions will be
in one room to discuss performance data
and explore ways to improve government services,
as well as make commitments for follow-up
actions.

The purpose of the Commission is to address the
needs of at-risk children by reducing juvenile
and family violence and promoting social and emotional
skills among children and youth through the oversight
of a comprehensive integrated service delivery
system. The twenty-one (21) member Commission
has aligned itself around the Administration's
six citywide goals*, which outline the District's
commitment that children and youth make successful
transitions from birth to adulthood. By looking
at ways to measure our success in each goal, the
Administration can determine how to make improvements
in each critical area. Implementing the six citywide
goals requires the District to work across agency
boundaries and with community partners to align
critical supports and services for children, youth,
and their families.
The
Commission
meets monthly to discuss data around one of the
goals and how agencies
can collaborate to address the needs of children,
youth, and their
families around the six goals. ICSIC Action Items
and timelines
are identified for each agency out of the Commission
meetings.
